Ugh, my head...

[It's hard to make anything out at first, save for the brilliant glare of blue bleeding like an open wound in the vast expanse of a dark sky.]

Where? [The Autobot finally sits himself up, a hand braced against his head as he looks around. His expression falls.]

...oh you've got to be kidding me. I know we were en route to the Planet of Junk, but come on- how many times are we going to crash land? And we just got that ship!

[He pauses, optics narrowing as he looks around once more. There's...something that... No. Probably his imagination. He shakes his head.]

I know I didn't let any of those big bozos drive so how... Guess I should start with "where." -huh?

[He looks directly at the screen, finally.]

Kup? Wheelie? Hey, I'll even settle for Grimlock! Where are you guys?

-Ultra Magnus! ...? [Right? He pauses a moment, but then rallies on- it seems like forever since he'd last heard from the guy.]

[All right, he'll turn on the video function for this. He makes an effort to not show the damage to his frame, though.]

I suppose that all depends on how you'd define that.

[That...isn't quite the response he's expecting. In fact, it's kind of worrying.]

Did something happen to them? [Don't tell him he's too late! The request comes across as strange, and it shows on his face.]

That depends. I find it odd that you'd ask about Kup and Wheelie is all. But I'll get to that.

-you make it sound like you know Wheelie, but that can't be because we just picked him up back in Quintessa...

[There's something weird going on here. Still, when the leader's asking, you don't keep stalling. It seems a harmless enough request anyway.

Hot Rod shrugs, then shifts to show one arm, then the other.]

It's complicated.

[He looks. No glyph.

What does this all mean? Magnus frowns a bit more than usual as he goes into thought.]

Hot Rod. Listen carefully. We're both in an alternate dimension. This is Cybertron. The tear in the space and time, that you can see if you look up? It's the Lambda. We all come from there. All different versions of us.

[He would have expected this all to be a joke, except that it's Ultra Magnus telling him this. Well, there goes that hope.

Slowly, Hot Rod looks up at the sky again.]

Seriously? That's just great, considering we've got this enormous planet-munching monster probably just waiting to eat ours.

-I'd ask how we leave, but that's probably a stupid question if you're still here, huh?

[A beat.]

Wait. Different versions?

Planet-munching monster?

As far as I know, leaving is not possible right now.

...Yes. And it's starting to sound like we're from two different universes, Hot Rod.

[Or did they not learn the name of that thing yet?]

[He sags. The news just gets better and better.]

This is all... Yeah. [Face go in hands.]

I've heard that name mentioned here. I don't know much more.

I... [Magnus tries to not react. Fails a bit.] I'm sorry. I don't mean to make this more complicated for you, but I wanted you to have the facts.

Back home. He's the thing that ate both of Cybertron's moons- possibly along with some of our friends. We were trying to go save them before the Decepticons happened. And now this.

[He shakes his head.]

It's... No, guess there's no reason for you to be apologizing. You're doing me a favor trying to explain all this. I'm...not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling right now.

[Although blasting something in the face might be pretty therapeutic right about now.]

Well, that gives me a perspective things at least.

Confusion is usually normal to feel. Though I think you could use something to distract you with.

Kind of wondering if I should ask what's going on in your part of the alternate universe.

[He forces a chuckle.]

The war's over. Cybertron is rejecting us. So we're on a mission to find the Knights of Cybertron in hopes of reviving Cybertron.

...You actually end up captaining the crew I'm with where I'm from.

Try to not think about it too much. [He doesn't really regret being under Rodimus's command, but his lack of regard for the rules can make it difficult.]

All right. I need you to get me names of people arriving here recently. And you need to tell me whether or not they have a mark on their arm, like mine.

[He shows his Vector Prime glyph as an example.]

The not thinking about it much is the hard part. In general, I mean. ["Captain" Hot Rod. ...okay, that sounds kind of dumb but hey.]

-what? You're kidding me. I thought it'd be something a little more... Non-secretarial.

I know this doesn't suit your idea of f...fff. ... Entertainment, but I need you to do this while I try to figure out what's going on.

[He manages not to sigh at that.]

Okay, okay. Fine. Names of new guys, check if they have a mark or not- got it.

-um, so what's the deal with that, anyway? The tattoo thing.

It implies some sort of connection with who is known as the Firstforged. They are the first constructed Cybertronians, supposedly. Mine indicates a link to Vector Prime.

More than that, I don't know. Even the Firstforged seem a bit uninformed. Why you are unmarked... you and many others. I don't know what that means.

Firstforged? Okay...

[He frowns a little, but nods.]

So all we get are more questions that need to be answered.

I know. I'm working on it.

All right. I'll see what I come up with on my end.

-oh yeah, where are you based around here?

There's the police headquarters by Prima's temple. That's where I've been staying, primarily.

I'll give you the location. Utilize my room for now until I can get you arranged in your own room.

[That'd help a lot more if he knew where this Prima's Temple even was, but oh well. He supposes he'll figure it out.
