[Those from Earth might be familiar with the old movie cliche of the prisoner rattling his cup back and forth over the bars of his cell. Whirl somehow also knows this cliche. And is doing it.]

[Except he's doing it with his face. ]

[Oh boy, it's Whirl. How does he even approach this? Well, let's start with the basics.]

Well yeah, 'cos I can't shoot for slag. Don't worry, I got it. I think not trying to beat the hell outta me and getting yourself thrown in the brig again would be a nice start, though. Not sure what else you're expecting me to tell you.

Oh, I dunno. SORRY for SHOOTING Rung in the HEAD?

[WOW just forget that first statement because the last overshadows it by far. Swerve's expression is now one of 'are you seriously bringing this up right now with that little tact?', and it's mixed in with a little incredulity.]

I- What!? Was there ever a doubt that I didn't feel fraggin' awful for taking that shot in the first place? 'Cos if there was, lemme clarify that yeah, I'm more sorry than I can even figure out how to say.

[And that really is something, considering how he is with words. He is just going to tense a bit, grit what passes for teeth, and settle into a frown. He can't even be mad at Whirl for bringing it up. It's like being upset at a dog for running into a glass sliding door.]

[When have 'Whirl' and 'tact' ever even been in the same quadrant? Be real, Swerve.]

Yeah. Yeah, there was some pretty serious doubt. Considering, you know, the size of the target you fraggin' missed.

[He had hopes, man. He was going to bring a peace offering and a serious apology, but now he is just kind of staring. First it's more of an incredulous stare, then it's a bit of an angry squint, then it just sticks as a deadpan.]

Well, sorry to disappoint but we all can't be crackshots with a rivet gun. [He was a scientist. What do you want from him?]

You know? I kinda wonder about that. Because to miss a target as fraggin' big as Fortress Huge-imus, you gotta be the worst shot in the world....

[The look on his face turns to some of shock before he wedges his thumb and index fingers to the part of his nose just under the bridge of his visor and pinches. That idea is so farfetched and stupid to him that it may just be causing him physical pain. Oh wait. There it is.]

Whatever you wanna do to me that makes you think you'll feel better about what happened, fine. But I never ever wanted to hurt Rung, and I woulda never done what I did on purpose. He's probably one of the few completely likeable and helpful mechs in the entire ship. If I hadn't shot him, I'da liked to try and get to know him. But I did, so that's right out.

So there you go. If that doesn't clear things up for you, I don't know what will.

[See? That's the downside of having a face: making faces like that. No one will ever see Whirl making a face like that.]

[However he finds that face entirely gratifying.]

You're going to be so dead you'll come back to life just so I can kill you again.

[Whirl will kill Swerve so hard it will break the laws of physics. ]

Yeah, I already figured. Thanks. Trouble is, I already told him I'd have a talk with him whenever he was ready. Apologize and explain and all that.

So it's not really your choice. He's got free will, y'know.

[He'd probably be a lot more scared if Whirl wasn't behind bars. He is still pretty terrified, though masking it under mild bitterness is doing wonders for the terror.]

Newsflash. [Allow him to make jazzhands with his claws.] You can 'apologize and explain and all that' over comm.

[SNORT. Free will. What fraggin' crazy talk is that?!]
