raceme: (Getting really tired of your shit Mister)

[Text | locked from Tarn]

I know that some of your are more than a little worried about our last newcomer, Tarn. I am also aware that those concerns are more than justified.

If you think you need some protection or that you might be in danger, feel free to contact me directly or any member of the Police Force. We will take care of the issue and protect you to the best of our abilities. And no, it doesn't matter what faction you are, were, or may decide to be in the possible future.

That said, I'm trying to use the stassis cuff technology from my world to build a stasis container. Jetfire, Perceptor, or anybody who's used to engineering, could you help me with that? Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm. Well, it would at the least give me a solid idea of the basis of the workings of stasis cuffs and perhaps a beginning how to replicate it... I won't promise anything, however. And yes, I would be able to put them together again.

[He smiles briefly, a dry little thing before he nods.]

Certainly not, but he does have some advantage; I believe Tarn is a ground vehicle of some sort?

[Video hasn't been wide enough to give a coherent enough view, but that would be his guess.]

A power source would probably be wise, even if it'd obviously need something to power the basic stasis function anyway, but extra would make sure it'd last longer.

It's perfectly fine to dislike him, Blurr. Starscream isn't... ah. The most easiest or agreeable of mechs. And if Tarn is a ground vehicle, that means Starscream... or any flyer, really, has an advantage.

The issue is just that Starscream has something of an advantage of a non-lethal, subduing weapon and replicating the null-ray just won't be easily done.

[Or at all; replicating or duplicating Spark-based abilities were chancy at best.]

Ah, no, of course it will, but it might be a good idea to have an extra power cell of energon to fuel it, given that these won't be normal stasis cuffs, but something a lot larger. It will simply need more energon to provide power than what can be stored in the device itself.

[It's hard not to chuckle, so he gives in, shaking his helm.]

He clashes with most people.

I believe Tarn does have a ground vehicle altmode, but a confirmation of what type would be beneficial.

Unfortunately, I believe so, yes. But if one of the others with a suitable background has information and skills I don't, it will of course take less time.

[Jetfire pauses, tilting his helm, and then nods. He can always decline to answer after it's asked.]

Yes, of course. What is it?

[... though, given the circumstances in which the question's asked, he can guess it has to do with Starscream.]

Hopefully, yes.

[Jetfire nodded and then... Well, the question should probably not be surprising. Really, it's not in a way, but he'd nonethelessnever expected to be asked that question anyway. Or anything similar.]

I... er. [Even as he trails off, pausing, Jetfire locks the post. Usually, he wouldn't care, but... As long as it's not locked, anyone could see it (anyone not Tarn, unless he managed to break the encryption).

The question still has him a bit stumped. Most would usually only question why, or how and he'd counter it with yes, he knows how Starscream is, but would add the good points. Well, what he considered good points.]

Well, er... put that way... [He looks away briefly, optics brightening as he rubs the lower half of his faceplates. It's not even the question in itself, and he's not even embarrassed. It's more about formulating it. Especially when it's not Starscream he's talking to.]

Yes. He does. Not all the time, not with all he does or says, but none of us can like any given individual all the time, or their whole. [Shrugging, Jetfire turns back to face the feed, expression serious and thoughtful.] We've been friends for a very long time, and now... er, arguably more than that, if not necessarily closer.

[Because given everything and ignoring the nature of interfacing, they'd already become as close as they probably would get during the Academy.]

[He has them, he's just a bit... restrictive with them. Usually.]

No, it's certainly fine to ask. [Jetfire chuckles and shakes his helm.] It wasn't more uncomfortable than other questions where I have to explain why... Which is usually all anyone asks, not if... er, he makes me happy.

It was a bit of a surprise, that's all.

[Jetfire sobers up slightly to shrug.]

He's definitely serious when he fires his null-ray, fatal or not, or cluster bombs, but by then it might be too late to tell. That is one of the reasons he keeps being unpredictable, even if I can usually tell how serious he is, or isn't.

[So don't worry, Blurr... Starscream's difficult, even for Jetfire.]

[He could try, and he's not that bad. His funny moments just tend to come out in tense situations.]

Few seem to look at it that way, but that even one would...

And, believe it not, Blurr, I know that's not as reassuring as it sounds, but unfortunately it's the best I have to offer in this.

[The smile is lopsided and doesn't, perhaps, really belong, but it's there.]
angleofscience: (smile - sweeter than usual)

[It can also be kind of awkward.]

No need to apologise; Starscream is not easy and rather abrasive. [Jetfire's smile widens a bit and then the glow in his optics soften, turning slightly fuzzy pale blue.]

Thank you, Blurr.
angleofscience: (smile - as predicted!)

[Yes, but are we used to the sort of awkward implying intimate interactions as a solution in battle would end up as? Even if what Jetfire meant when he said that was grabbing Starscream and slamming him into the ground...]

There is that, yes. [Jetfire's smile grows into a chuckle and he shakes his helm.] There's certainly always that.

Well, let's see what we can do about this situation, then.
