[Video] ...What IS gasoline? What's it made of? [Locked to Gunmax/Deckerd/McCrane/Brave Police]

In my world, I know it can make Satomobiles or cars and Satocycles and mopeds move...but that's it.

I never thought about what makes it up.

So...what's inside it?

And, huh, where does gas normally come from anyway?  I think it has to be put into vehicles, right?  So then it must come from somewhere else...?

Gas, uh... how do I explain this? Maybe I should have McCrane talk about it. Hmm, it's also known as fossil fuel, which means gas comes from really ancient dead stuff.

...Really eloquent of me to say, but I think there are others that could explain it better.
patokichi: (Haul assu!)

you know that's a pretty good question I always wrote my tags individually 8/

Gasoline is a liquid that is made from oil. Oil is what you call a "fossil fuel", meaning it's mined from below the earth's surface.

Gasoline is a combustible fuel used in most engines.

Does that make sense?

[He read wikipedia a lot in his offtime shhhhh.]

engrishdetective: (okay then sassafrazz)

[personal profile] engrishdetective 2012-06-29 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really, but... yes...?

Ugh, I can't explain it! I'm the wrong guy to talk about this sort of thing. Sorry, Korra; I'll let Deckerd and McCrane get technical with you.
engrishdetective: (super special awesome)

[personal profile] engrishdetective 2012-06-29 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, whatever. Not like I was able to get far in explaining anyway.

We found a little bit more, but... [He isn't interested in worrying Korra, but if they don't get more soon, they may not last long.] Mm, no big deal. We'll figure it out.
engrishdetective: (HIS ASS WAS SO FINE)

[personal profile] engrishdetective 2012-06-29 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Here and there in the junkpiles. Nothing special, I'm afraid.
patokichi: (Talkies)

Welp there you go!

[personal profile] patokichi 2012-06-29 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. Gunmax is correct, it does come from- er. Well. The uh. Long-since deceased.

Thus why it's called "fossil fuel".
engrishdetective: (GURL NO)

[personal profile] engrishdetective 2012-06-29 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
...Well, I guess technically McCrane could use diesel, but I think that's gonna be even harder to find.

I know some of the other Cybertronians mentioned energon. I have no idea what that is or if we could even use it.
patokichi: (W-wha?)

[personal profile] patokichi 2012-06-29 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait- bend the earth?

[Is it like what she said she could do with water? He's curious now.]

Well- wow. I wouldn't know where to start looking, though. And we'd have to find some way to refine it into gasoline instead of just crude oil. I wonder if anyone around here is a chemist.

I may know what ut is, but I'm no scientist.
patokichi: (Thumbs up!)

[personal profile] patokichi 2012-06-29 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! That's an incredible power. Is that how you manipulate water as well?

[Oh so many questions. You're worse than Power Joe and Drill Boy combined (haha, because they do. Combine that is. Right.) He doesn't mind it too much though.]

Hmm, I think we'd be better off asking one of the bots in charge, actually. I might seek one of them out and see what I can find out.

Megamind? Thank you, I'll message him later and see if he's willing to help us!
engrishdetective: (who needs the drama)

[personal profile] engrishdetective 2012-06-29 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Hadn't crossed my mind. Honestly, if it's a foreign substance, I'm a bit concerned what would happen, but if push comes to shove, we might not have room to argue.
engrishdetective: (why not whore ourselves)

[personal profile] engrishdetective 2012-06-29 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure.

Maybe, but we might also have to consider alternatives. I might have to just suck it up and ask around about energon.
patokichi: (Very gentle)

[personal profile] patokichi 2012-06-29 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Can everyone from your world do that?

[He smiles warmly.]

It does. And there are always other alternatives, I'm sure. Probably not as efficient, but we can burn other things for fuel.
mccrane: (Thinking--sitting with drinks)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-29 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[McCrane apologizes about being late. He was investigating a pile of very empty plastic containers.]

I noticed your...ah...abilities.

[Because he has an idea.]

Considering that there are some intact vehicles around, I wonder if you would be able to remove the gasoline from them.
