Alright. I heard the story from the drone. Or Acolyte, or whatever the frag they're called. But can anybody out there tell me what the Pit is actually going on here? And why I've suddenly gained an extra, glowing brand that I don't recognize on my arm?

Because if this is all some kind of overly-elaborate joke or some Quintesson's latest idea on how to mess with us, someone is gonna get it...

And yeah, so I've discovered. Can't exactly blame a mech for being suspicious, given the whole 'coming online in a strange place with a brand you've never seen before' thing.

Might be healthy to stay a bit suspicious. There's an armistice going on if you happened to be at war with anybody... but that doesn't ever stop the crazy. There's a lot of that here.

Nothing ever stops the crazy. I think it's ingrained into our CNA by this point.

But yeah, a bit of healthy suspicion never hurts. Especially when you've been bot-napped through time and space.

This place likes screwed up things. We've had crazy disease outbreaks, weird power crystals... all sorts of stuff, and I haven't even been here that long. This place is still very much in beta testing, from the look of it.

Yeah, I kinda suspected that, given your look. Though Earth-built bots from your dimension must be further along than the ones in mine if you've gotten things together enough to start reproducing yourselves.

Things like that do tend to be long stories, yeah. The uninteresting part is up for debate, though. You don't know boring til you've had to patrol and monitor the same sector for over 4 million stellar cycles. Just about anything is interesting compared to that.

Anyway, I've talked to a medic, a science bot, and a member of a police force among others. You do anything interesting around here? Other than greet people and let them know how much crazy slag they're in for?

Low-ranking grunts like me would get stuck with monitor duty all the time back home, since it was boring work that no one else wanted to do. Didn't help that it seemed just this side of pointless while on Earth. I mean, our base was on the bottom of the ocean; what the frag did they expect to attack us, an octopus?

Hmph... Anyway, point is, monitor duty in an underwater base was never that exciting. Most shifts were spent playing 'Guess that fish' or two-on-one fullstasis in between being bored out of our processors.
