WATER [Open to all players!]
(OOC: Let me know if I'm doing this wrong--like, if this is the incorrect format for this re-aligned comm or something, I know there's more than one, and I'm sorta a little confused on which is for which? Anyway, here goes....)
Is this thing on?
[Korra lightly bangs at something, frowning--the screen shakes. She gives a big exaggerated sigh, then continues.]
Okay, I heard there were some other humans like me out here, so given that, I wanted to ask if any of you guys have found water? Like, any water at all, a pool, a river, even a freakin' flask of it? And y'know, same question to anyone, Cybertronians or spirits or whatever--have you seen water?
[Korra blinked, then added in a rush.]
And in case there's anyone who doesn't realize, water's a big deal for humans like me, we need it to survive.
[Korra moves to turn off the screen.]
Okay, that's it, hopefully someone gets in touch with me about this--
[Korra stretched too far or too fast, because she flinches, irritating the wound on her back. No way is she going to ask aloud for medical help. If she can find water, she can heal herself, thank you very much. But then the thought occurred to her--if there were other humans like her, were there like any other healers among them? What if there...weren't? A panicked expression suddenly flashes across Korra's face.]
Um, actually, quick head count--are there any human healers out there that can, y'know, heal...humans?
[Korra's expression distinctly reads without words, 'That sounded lame.']
Well, I'll, uh, raise my head first--or is it hand--?
[Korra shakes her head, raises a hand.]
Whatever, I can heal as long as I have water--it's a bending thing--uh, and that's a thing where I manipulate the water to like do whatever I want including heal the human body. So if there's a human out there who's hurt and has water or can find water, you can come to me for help.
[Korra paused, trying to think of anything else to add. She slowly shrugged.]
Okay, that's definitely it now...so, um, bye, hope to see someone with info on water soon.
[End transmission.]

Re: [Audio/Voice reply]
Um...well, I offered to heal anyone with the water I get, but I can only do that with humans--um, people that already have a lot of water in them, skin and bones, that kind of thing....
I can earthbend, so I can potentially metalbend, and maybe that would work on you, if you have enough earth minerals in your armor...but I don't really know how to metalbend. [Korra looks embarassed. Then she blinks.] Um, I mentioned metalbending because it could probably fix up any dents or scrapes or tears in your armor, if you had any.
Anything else...I really don't know if I've got anything else to offer. I can firebend too--uh, manipulate fire as well. Though I don't see how that could be of use to you.
[Korra frowns, thinking hard.]
What would you want?
[Audio/Voice]
Are you always so obtuse?
Re: [Audio/Voice]
People keep telling me that. [The Chief of Police, actually.]
[Audio/Voice]
You just tell strangers - granted we're all some kind of fellow refugees - what you need, and all your abilities?
What is it? Do you not trust anyone else's advice, or are you that self-important?
Re: [Audio/Voice]
[Korra throws up her hands. Slipstream's really reminding Korra of someone else too.] Give me a break, I'm a work in progress!
[Korra blinks.]
Well, you asked me what I would give, and I was trying to answer that. I wasn't sure what that would be, so I was just telling you what I could offer. And I figured you'd let me know.
[Korra shrugs, glances away.]
Yeah, well, kinda at the end of my rope here. Never been in a stitch like this before. [She arches a brow, smirks a little.] Thanks for the concern though.
[Korra jerks, frowning. That's hit a nerve, 'trusting no one's advice,' 'self-important.'] Well, I--
[Korra gives a frustrated growl, then slumps down, somewhat defeated.] Kinda both, I guess.
[Korra frowns, straightens back up.]
So are you in the habit of giving everyone lectures?
[Audio/Voice]
It's not concern! A bot doesn't have to feel anything to just voice an opinion!
[Her voice trails off, bitterness fading from her tone. Maybe it's 'giving Korra a break'. After all, 'work-in-progress' suggests growth.]
I suppose it might be efficient enough, in a way, to just say exactly what you want, and what you can offer in exchange. But, it's also a remarkably efficient way to give potential enemies information to use against you!
Here's some free advice: don't go telling bots about this potential 'metal bending' whatever it is, unless you know you can use it to defend yourself.
It's like saying to other organics you can 'bend flesh', which is less than the breaking a bot can do.
Re: [Audio/Voice]
[Korra blinks.]
Really? I always feel something when I give my opinion. Even if the feeling's just, 'listen to me, I'm right!'...though that hasn't really been happening for a while now. Me being right, I mean....
[Korra rubbed the back of her neck.]
...But I don't even see why'd we have to be enemies.
[Korra is about to reluctantly admit Slipstream has a point about the metalbending, until she hears the comment about 'bending flesh.' She inwardly shudders, and glares, an ugly scowl on her face. A major nerve has been struck. She's reminded of Tarrlok bloodbending her, just reaching inside and manipulating all the water in her body to do whatever he wanted, to submit....]
I'd never bend other people!
[Korra's eyes widened--she just literally breathed fire, she did not mean for that to happen.]
[Audio/Voice]
It's not like I don't have emotions! [She puts enough feeling into her vocal inflection, at least.]
I wasn't saying anyone should be enemies-!
But, it sounds like you understand, now, how 'metal bending' might sound. Not that I'm saying we have 'Earth minerals'. [She's not actually denying it either.]
Re: [Audio/Voice]
[The last statement makes Korra grind to a halt. Oh.]
Oh. I--I'm so sorry, I really really didn't mean it like that.
[Korra remembered the mech tank attack--if they had any earth in them, she and Lin and the other metal bender cops would've ripped them apart. Inwardly she shuddered at the thought of Knock Out or Wing and the other metal people she met being ripped apart by metalbending, if they had earth minerals.]
And I'm really sorry about--I didn't meant to say you didn't have emotions or that thing about enemies--really didn't mean to put words in your mouth. It's just--
[Korra sighs, looks down.]
I'm just not that great at talking to people. I say the wrong thing every other word.
[Korra bows, apologetic.]
Again, I'm really sorry about the metalbending thing--I get how that must sound just as...horrible as bending other...'flesh' people, to you. Worse, to you.
[OOC: Korra's this close to groveling on the floor, she feels so bad.]
[Audio/Voice]
[Slipstream might sound overly pleased, given the subject, but noble, hero types are just so easily manipulated, and she seems to have found one.]
Your apology is accepted. It's probably easy to fail to put yourself in the place of others who are so different. There are, unfortunately, some bots who harbor fear and distrust of humans. They think all organics are disgusting, slimy flesh-bags. But, the Decepticons have evolved beyond such prejudice. Our faction is quick to recognize the skills and use of humans.
[Guilt: she can work with it.]
Re: [Audio/Voice]
[Korra flinched, thinking of Amon and the Equalists and all their supporters.]
[Then she blinked, and tilted her head.]
'Decepticons?' Factions--Knock Out mentioned factions before. [Korra smiled a little at the reminder of the first person she met in this strange place--then she frowned, curious.] Do you know Knock Out? He's covered in red armor. He was the first guy I met in this place--he looks like one of your kind, but without wings.
[Audio/Voice]
Knock Out. Can't say we've met. [Of course non-flyer and red sounds like an Autobot to her.] Did he say which faction? Decepticons and Autobots have some- ideological differences.
Re: [Audio/Voice]
Never said which faction. Just that they were fighting over their home.
[Audio/Voice]
[And she pauses, because that wasn't a very helpful answer, given both factions were fighting over Cybertron, so far as she knew.]
What about your people? Do you have differing factions? War or peace?
Re: [Audio/Voice]
Well, there was a war going on 70 years ago, but now it's officially peacetime. Officially. In reality--look, in my world, not everyone can bend. There are people who can, and people who can't--nonbenders. Right now a group of nonbenders called the Equalists feel oppressed by benders, and they're rebelling, violently. And...and...
[Korra's voice lowered.]
And they might have a point about the oppression thing, because one of the bender councilman had innocent nonbenders arrested.
[Korra folds her arms.]
And that's the major factions thing in my world at the moment. I admit I haven't seen much of it, I've been holed up in one place for most of my life and only just got to leave months ago....
[And now I'm here. What the hell.]
[Audio/Voice]
When a leader or regime is corrupt, there will eventually be revolution. Though, it's possible the means used to rebel seem as bad or worse than the oppression before. Such poor strategy and leadership only hinders our true cause.
Our world has seen fabricated or exaggerated charges used for political gain: so-called 'lieutenants' arrested, who were were in truth recent recruits and lowly ranked! All to make their captor look a competent threat to the rebellion.
It's fortunate for you that you were spared, but how you choose to act on what you learned is the important thing.
That's the freedom we all fight for.
Re: [Audio/Voice]
[Korra tries to absorb the information. The older woman--she certainly sounds older, more experienced--sounds like a mix of Amon and Tarrlok, actually. Korra thought that would be less than reassuring, but it's not. She's just...just trying to comprehend everything.]
So, what's your name, anyway? I'm Korra.
[Audio/Voice]
[She's not old, at all, but she inherited some data.]
You can call me Slipstream.
Re: [Audio/Voice]
One of my guards pretty much called me that one time.
[Korra remembers Slipstream's advice about how much information to divulge. And the whole story was kinda long anyway, she got tired telling it to Drift.]
Look, in my world, there's this person who can bend all four elements, and is the only person to do that, and that person is constantly reborn into different nations. That person's the Avatar, and everyone says it's the Avatar's duty to protect the world. I'm the latest Avatar, I've known it since I was four, and people have been training me to be the Avatar since then and accept my duty, which is supposed to keep the world in balance, at peace...whatever that really means.
And don't ask why I was chosen, no one really knows how that works.
[Korra smiles. She likes that name and its super obvious water qualities.]
Cool name.
[Audio/Voice]
No pressure or anything! [so much sarcasm.]
But, usually the ones who really want to lead are pretty bad leaders! If you know a lot about bending, [and Slipstream clearly does not really know what this means in the sense of Korra's universe] then you know it's not breaking. It's a more subtle strategy. It's not about big shows of control or force, but about swaying others to your way of thinking.
Re: [Audio/Voice]
Yep.
[She wanted to be the Avatar before, she wanted to be a good Avatar--but she wasn't doing a very good job, and was beginning to feel like it would've been better for everyone if someone else had been picked.]
Well, the Equalists' leader Amon sure has the 'swaying others to your way of thinking' part down.
[Audio/Voice]
'Cause, our world might have one of those.
Re: [Audio/Voice]
Yep, pretty much. And he kicks ass too, unfortunately.
Oh yeah? Is he against that Autobot regime?
[Audio/Voice]
Re: [Audio/Voice]
Everyone seems pretty united with Amon--everyone on his side, anyway. No in-fighting there.
