WATER [Open to all players!]

(OOC: Let me know if I'm doing this wrong--like, if this is the incorrect format for this re-aligned comm or something, I know there's more than one, and I'm sorta a little confused on which is for which? Anyway, here goes....)

Is this thing on?

[Korra lightly bangs at something, frowning--the screen shakes. She gives a big exaggerated sigh, then continues.]

Okay, I heard there were some other humans like me out here, so given that, I wanted to ask if any of you guys have found water? Like, any water at all, a pool, a river, even a freakin' flask of it? And y'know, same question to anyone, Cybertronians or spirits or whatever--have you seen water?

[Korra blinked, then added in a rush.]

And in case there's anyone who doesn't realize, water's a big deal for humans like me, we need it to survive.

[Korra moves to turn off the screen.]

Okay, that's it, hopefully someone gets in touch with me about this--

[Korra stretched too far or too fast, because she flinches, irritating the wound on her back. No way is she going to ask aloud for medical help. If she can find water, she can heal herself, thank you very much. But then the thought occurred to her--if there were other humans like her, were there like any other healers among them? What if there...weren't? A panicked expression suddenly flashes across Korra's face.]

Um, actually, quick head count--are there any human healers out there that can, y'know, heal...humans?

[Korra's expression distinctly reads without words, 'That sounded lame.']

Well, I'll, uh, raise my head first--or is it hand--?

[Korra shakes her head, raises a hand.]

Whatever, I can heal as long as I have water--it's a bending thing--uh, and that's a thing where I manipulate the water to like do whatever I want including heal the human body. So if there's a human out there who's hurt and has water or can find water, you can come to me for help.

[Korra paused, trying to think of anything else to add. She slowly shrugged.]

Okay, that's definitely it now...so, um, bye, hope to see someone with info on water soon.

[Korra's about to say 'the coolest thing ever!'--but then she remembers almost killing Tarrlok with firebending and Tarrlok taking control of her body with bloodbending and those innocent nonbenders being captured with earthbending.]

Um, in my world that's the name we give to controlling the four elements--water, earth, fire, and air.

[But then Korra grins when she gets a good look at Raf--he's beaming, and he doesn't look much older than Jinora, his dark brown hair and eyes reminding Korra of her too.]

My name's Korra. What's yours?

I'm Raf - it's nice to meet you, Korra!

So...does that mean you're like a supehero?

[Korra tilts her head.]

A...'superhero?' Is that a 'secret hero?' [She remembers Sifu's story about the Painted Lady, and that was something her predecessor Aang called Katara, a secret hero.]

Why would you think I'm a...'superhero?'

Well...could you give me a better idea of what you mean by 'control'? Because I've never heard of bending, and when you say controlling the elements, the first thing I think of are comics. [he smiles a little sheepishly.]

(OOC: Headcanon time, because I think LoK world would have funny comics strips in their newspapers.)

What do funny comics have to do with...?

[Korra shook herself, trying to figure out a way to explain this. Well, she couldn't show all the bending, but she could show some.]

I can summon a flame in my hand, like this.

[And Korra lit a small fire in her hand, holding it up to the screen. Then she flicked it off.]

If there's earth, I can make it move with a martial arts gesture, and without me physically touch it, though I can do that too. Same thing with water--I make the right move, and it moves too. I can't generate earth and water like I can fire though--I need like external earth and water to bend.

[Korra considers, then adds for the boy.]

Though water--well, I can bend anything water. Including my own sweat. [She smirked at that.] Or if the air's wet enough, pull vapor from that.

[Korra slumps down at the mention of air.]

Air's the other bending discipline where you should be able to generate your own air like fire, but I...I've never been able to do airbend before.

[give Raf a moment he's processing all that. specifically the fire, because that's what's shown, but in a moment, he Gets It;]

Oh, so bending is like magic!

[Korra stared, then snickered, remembering Sifu's stories about her and her brother.]

Yeah, kinda, though in my world no one calls it that--people can get pretty stuffy about names and all.

[She frowns, as she begins to suspect something.]

Does anyone do...'magic,' where you're from Raf? Anything like bending?

Not really. We have technology, but nobody can do it with their own hands. Not unless you count something like static electricity.

So you're all nonbenders.... [And it's then Korra realizes that sounds really weird. Benders and nonbenders...it sorta makes sense, explicitly calling those who can't bend, 'nonbenders'...but come to think of it, it sorta sounds...mean, too. Like they're just identified by what they CAN'T do. Which doesn't sound...good, actually.]

Um, I mean--sorry, I'm just used to a world where there are some people who can bend or do 'magic,' and then there's those who...can't.

[if Raf took any offense, he's not showing it - he just nods, curious more than anything else]

So are there a lot more that can, then? Or is it even?

Um, I'm not really sure, actually.

[She crosses her arms, thinking.]

I know there are definitely more nonbenders than airbenders...and yet...and yet airbenders get a represenative on the ruling council, while the nonbenders don't....

[Korra shakes herself. Does she really want to think about this right now? Then something else occurs to her.]

Hey, Raf, have you gotten any water yet? Food?

[She looks concerned.]

(OOC: I don't think Korra knows yet that Raf and Ratchet know each other.]

[oh is she going in to politics that stuff confused the heck out of him

he'll happily take that subject change - and nods]

Yeah. I've got some friends here who are helping me get a hold of that. [he makes a bit of a face] They're not really...prepared...for humans here, but at least we've found some canned food in the junk pile that seems still good.

[OOC: Korra will gladly accept the topic change she was trying to initiate, because she doesn't have the head for politics either...which could be problematic as she's the Avatar, but y'know, small steps in character development.]

Some guys were able to give me canned peaches too, along with some water bottles.

And this other guy showed me Alpha Trion's place, where it has fruits and veggies and the most gorgeous lake ever! I'll have to head over there to pick some of that up.

And a guy named Ratchet offered me water, and Blurr brought me ice.

[Raf nods at the words, looks interested at the mention of Alpha Trion, but Ratchet...

Ratchet has him perk up, immediately]

You've met Ratchet?

You know him?

Yeah! He's from the same place I am. Red and white, with blue eyes, and some armor on his forehead that goes like this? [he holds up his fingers in the shape of Ratchet's crest]

Yep, that's the guy I met.

[Korra frowns, considering. Connecting the dots.]

I think he was trying to get me to be your nurse or something. [Her frown deepens.] You're not hurt, are you?

No, Ratchet can just be...

...protective.

[Crosses her arms, gives a twisted smile.]

Sounds familiar.

[Tilts her head.]

But I guess he'd have reason to be. This place seems better for robots like him than us. We've gotta find water, food, make sure we have some kind of system in place in case any of us does get or sick....

They have to do that, too. I guess this is kind of a fair turnabout, for them, though - they were the ones who had it hard on Earth.

Ratchet knows a little bit about illness, but it's mostly Cybertronian. I don't think he has much experience in things like the flu.

What was Ratchet doing on Earth? I thought his home on Cybertron was at war?

Well, it was. But most of Cybertron ended up being destroyed by the war.

...What? How--

[Korra stops. It's too horrible to contemplate.]

...And they're still fighting?

...yeah. Megatron - that's the leader of the Decepticons - won't stop until he's destroyed all of the Autobots - that's what Ratchet is. An Autobot.

Why does he still want to destroy them if their home's lost?
