The larger creatures tend not to stray out of the Badlands, but be mindful at the Junkpile. Monsters sometimes emerge from the Lambda.

Not everyone can be an engineer. If you can fight and point your weapons at the right targets, you're useful enough to keep supplied with weapons, food and whatever else you organics need to survive.

Ultimately, defending the territory you'll be living in is in your best interests anyway.
