video || Trion's Lake

[Here we have the police bird in his natural habitat. Standing by the lake in Alpha Trion's sector. He looks rather pensive and generally more upset than he usually does.]

[And before he can explain himself, he catches sight of his reflection in the lake. Scrawled on the panes of his left wing are the words "SPACE FOR RENT". On the other wing, in equally bold, obnoxious writing is "APRIL FOOLS".]

[He stares. And then drops the Link in an effort to scrub the writing off with his bare hands, twisting around into a veritable knot of unhappy ninja robot.]

[Unfortunately, all this does is give the viewer a good view of the back side of each wing, on which is written ""POWER JOE WAS HERE :D". One word per wing pane.]

[And it's then, in a fit of avian frustration, Kagerou has the most mature response to life there ever was. He lifts the nearest heavy rock and throws it, as hard as he can, shouting:]

I hate this place!

[She seems...contemplative on something, but quickly shakes it out of her head.]

A-Anyway, it's okay! Someone probably just thought they were being funny. At least you weren't hurt!

... What is it, Kay? Is something wrong?

[Oh no you don't. He saw that.]

It's not funny. He isn't funny. He hates me.

Oh. It's just...my birthday's in April, that's all.

[But her face drops a little.]

But how could anyone hate you? I've seen really bad pranks for April Fools, I won't lie. Some even involve the other person getting killed.

It is? Why... why didn't you tell me sooner?

[Kagerou, it's only April 1st, calm down.]

He thinks I mean to hurt you. He's part of the Brave Police... that's reason enough to him.

It's easy to lose track of time in this place, I guess...It's no big deal, though!

[There's more important matters.]

But...why would he think that??

[No, he's not going to drop it.]

... Reasons. It's not important.

The 28th.

[It's quickly said, focusing on his wings.]

Usually April Fools isn't for really being mean...

The 28th. I will remember.

[He says it with heavy finality. He means every syllable of the words.]

Then no one told him that.

I-It's not important. I'm only gonna be 18 anyway. 21 is the big birthday, I guess.

[Forget being legal and all that jargon.]

Here, let me come get that off you, okay?

It's important. It's your day. And you are important to me.

[He means that too.]

... Do you really want to see me this way?

Aw Kagerou...y-you're sweet...

[A beat.]

You're Kagerou. Of course I do.

I'm not. Not really.

[... Because suddenly, he's reminded of the reason he was suspected of hurting Kay.]

I... all right. If you're sure.

You're just outside by the lake, right?

I'll be right there!

Yes. I'm here.

I'll be here.

[The feed clicks off as Kay makes her way towards the entrance of the temple, bounding out like a hopping bird. The lakes weren't too far from the entrance to Trion's temple, it gave a nice view from the windows.

That was one thing about Trion's sector, it was beautiful.

With some vigor in her step, she hurries towards the bodies of water, finding Kagerou quite easily. It's like he stood out.]

Kagerou!

[He hasn't moved since she hung up. It's only when she calls his name that he looks in her direction, shifting around to face her.]

[And he kneels, able to push back the anger and the frustration just by seeing her face.]

Kay.

[And the feeling's mutual, despite not being as upset. Her face splits into a smile as she throws her arms around that leg armor, nuzzling into it.]

Well...I know it's not good timing to say this but...Happy April!

[He curls his hands around her in return, lightly, and carefully.]

It's an important month for you... it's all right.

Well, it's also the month that got paint on your wings. Let's wipe that off, okay?

[She unties her scarf, wrapping it up in her hand. It's no towel, but it'd work.]

[He pulls back from her a little, shaking his head.]

But... that's your scarf. You can't use that.

What? But...it's fine, Kagerou.

I can always wash it!

You don't know it won't come off. Scarves aren't made of metal.

But I don't have a towel with me...

... Then we'll just go home.

[He can't take her scarf like that. It's hers.]

But, we need to get that paint off, don't we?

[Now hold still, she's going to start climbing you.]
